CHICAGO -- A young rapper was killed one week after posting a video on-line in which he makes fun of a rival gang.

20-year-old Shaquon Thomas went by the name “Young Pappy. He was gunned down on in the 4800 block of North Kenmore in the city’s Uptown neighborhood early Friday morning.

Police say he was shot twice in the back.
Thomas was with a friend when a gunman walked up and started shooting. Thomas  died a short time later at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.

As a rapper, his music  often glorified the gun and gang life.
Police say he was a known  gang member.
Thomas had been the target of two high-profile shootings last year in Rogers Park that wounded him
but killed other people instead.

In July of last year Wil Lewis was shot in the back and the head as he waited for a bus.  The 28-year-old was about to start a new job as a photographer.

No arrests have been made.
