Elderly man critically injured in ‘suspicious fire’ on Southwest Side

CHICAGO -- Police and arson investigators are looking into a suspicious house fire that critically injured a man on the Southwest Side.

They believe someone may have set ablaze the home on the 300 block of W. Columbus to hide a crime.

Fire officials say it started around 4:30 a.m. in the kitchen.

A 71-year-man was rescued, and is now hospitalized.
