NEW LENOX, Ill. - Just in time for Memorial day, there are new monuments are in place at New Lenox Veterans Memorial.

Restoration and improvements to the memorial have been underway, since it was vandalized late last year.

Stone monuments representing the Coast Guard and Army were set into place yesterday in the New Lenox Commons, joining those representing the Navy, Marines and Air Force.

The granite stone at the Memorial's entrance will be replaced in the coming weeks.

There was a public outcry after last year's vandalism.   Donations totaling about $55,000 poured in from all over the country to fund repairs.

A homeless man, 26-year-old Brian Sundstrom, was charged in the incident.  He's undergoing treatment.

A rededication is set for August 22, the 11th anniversary of the initial dedication.
