Flash floods, tornado slam parts of Texas, Oklahoma

IRVING, Texas — Record rainfall has slammed parts of Texas and Oklahoma, leaving three people dead.

The storms spurred violent flash floods and tornadoes.

The storms forced at least 1,000 people to evacuate and swept away hundreds of homes. In the Houston area, a tornado also touched down, injuring two people.

Rescue workers in parts of Oklahoma and Texas were called in, making dozens of high-water rescues after flash floods took motorists by surprise.

An F1 tornado ripped through Irving, Texas, causing widespread damage.
