Chicago fisherman feared drowned in the Dells
WISCONSIN DELLS — Search crews believe a Chicago fisherman visiting the Lower Dells drowned in the Wisconsin River.
The 21-year-old man was fishing on a rock on Saturday, south of a dam. When he tried to swim back to shore, officials suspect he got caught in the current.
Rescue crews from several districts helped a dive team search for him. On Sunday, they used sonar to search the area where the man was last seen. He has not been found.
Authorities are withholding the man’s name so his family can be notified.
