CHICAGO -- The National Storm Prediction Center has included the northeast Illinois portion of the Chicago area in a marginal risk for severe storms Sunday afternoon and evening. (See dark-green-shaded area on severe storm outlook map above.)
With a cold front situated well to the west in the central plains, the Chicago area will rest in the “warm sector” of the weather system the next few days. Monday there will be a marginal risk of severe storms over the far northwestern portion of the Chicago area.
As the cold front approaches the Mississippi River, the entire Chicago area will be included in the marginal risk of severe storms Tuesday.
