FAIRDALE, Ill. -- Most people are familiar with the devastating pictures captured of Fairdale when the EF4 tornado ripped through the town. One month later, it's more like a ghost town with little life and few signs of progress.

The town of 150 people living in 65 houses is eerily quiet now. The damage to their lives is visible every day and is affecting them, officials say, inside and out.

The town is still in need of help – both in donations and volunteers.

If you would like to donate, log on to The DeKalb County Community Foundation.

If you would like to volunteer, call 815-761-8078.

Operation Rebuild is running volunteer projects on a daily basis. Operation Rebuild can be found on Facebook. We are 100% volunteer run and are not a formally recognized group by the governmental agencies. We are actively working rebuild and recovery projects on a daily basis. We are getting great things done with no funding and all volunteers. Nightly we post the next days volunteer opportunities on our Facebook page. Our rally point is the white semi trailer across the street from 871 rt 72 in Fairdale. We meet every morning at 10 AM. Hope to see you on our Facebook page and on the ground in Fairdale area or making donations.
