U2 gives surprise performance to New York subway riders

NEW YORK — This is not the show you usually get when you ride the subway in New York.

Some lucky subway riders got a free performance from U2.

The band took over the Grand Central Terminal on Monday, performing “Angel of Harlem” with Jimmy Fallon.

Bono and Fallon were also spotted riding bikes around mid-town Manhattan, and re-created the biking accident that Bono was in with a mannequin dressed like the singer.

Bono was seriously injured in Central Park last November, shattering his left arm and damaging his elbow, shoulder blade and hand.

U2’s world tour starts Thursday in Vancouver.
