Person struck by Metra train in Crystal Lake
CRYSTAL LAKE – There are long delays on the Inbound trains on Metra’s Union Pacific Northwest Line Saturday morning a person was struck by a train in suburban Crystal Lake.
An inbound train scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 7:37 a.m. struck a person about 6:20 a.m. near the Pingree Road station.
The train scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 8:23 a.m., also was stopped early Saturday. An extra inbound train was accommodating passengers from Pingree Road to Chicago. It departed Pingree Road at about 8:15am and will make all stops.
No outbound trains had been affected as of 7:40 a.m.
Officials could not immediately say when service would resume but said in an alert that riders should expect extensive delays.
Details about the victim were not immediately available.
