Iowa governor declares state of emergency amid bird flu outbreak

DES MOINES - The Governor of Iowa has declared a state of emergency as bird flu continues to plague the state's poultry population.

Four new cases were discovered Friday. Close to a million chickens were affected at one farm alone. To prevent further spreading, every bird infected by the virus has to be killed. More than 21 million turkeys and chickens have already been put down nationwide.
