PLAINFIELD, Ill. -- Plainfield police are investigating if speeding or racing are to blame for a motorcycle accident that killed two people.

Authorities believe 27 year-old Sean Fitzpatrick hit a 56 year-old pedestrian just after midnight Tuesday at Route 59 and Lockport Street.

Police say Fitzpatrick wasn't wearing a helmet, and may have been traveling more than the 30mph speed limit. The motorcycle was found a couple of blocks from the scene of the crash.

Witnesses say they heard more than one motorcycle at the time of the accident.

Route 59 didn't re-open until around 11am Tuesday.

Both victims were Plainfield residents.
