Woman killed in Nepal earthquake had Chicago ties

KATHMANDU, Nepal -- Three American citizens are among the dead.

One of the victims spent some time in Chicago.

Marisa Eve Girawong was killed by an avalanche on Mount Everest.

She was there serving as a base camp doctor for "Madison Mountaineering," a Seattle based climbing company.

Girawong studied at Malcolm X College and received training at Stroger Hospital.

She was finishing work on a second degree in mountain medicine at the University of Lancaster in England.
