CHICAGO -- It’s a concept that’s out-of-the-box, but certainly not out of the bag.
Taco In A Bag, which opened last week, is located at 4603 N. Lincoln Avenue.
Two competitive eating champs, who won Food Court Wars on Food Network for their concept of eating on the run, just opened a new store on the city’s Northwest Side.
Nothing is by the book in this fast-casual place; from the décor, the bathroom of mystery, the wild mural: the food’s inspired by the walking taco.
The other half of the creative team, and also competitive eating champ Patrick “Deep Dish” Bertoletti, runs the ship behind the counter, whipping up the creations in a bag.
Freshly made fried tortilla chips -- spiced up by hand -- braised meats, sauces, all of it going into the insulated bag, ready on the run.
Top it off with the soda fountain mountain: spicy ginger ale, Killer Kola, Purple Napalm, all-cane sugar sodas, even their own bottled … Magic Unicorn Tears?
For these two men, it’s a dream come true -- in a neighborhood that is home.
