VALPARAISO, Ind. — A student at Valparaiso University is charged with making a false threat after he called police and told them he had taken hostages at gunpoint.

Michael Clemens, of Chesterton, called 911 just after 7 p.m. Tuesday and said he was holding hostages in the library.

Officers swarmed the campus and evacuated the library, but police say there was no hostage situation.

Police say Clemens admitted to making the call from a nearby dorm.

He is being held in the Porter County jail this morning.
