Trek is recalling nearly one million bikes after an injury that left one rider paralyzed.

The recall involves 900,000 bikes in the United States and nearly 100,000 in Canada.

They were sold between 1999 and 2015.

The problem is with a quick-release lever on the bike’s front wheel.

If the lever can open beyond 180 degrees, it may come in contact with the disc brake which can cause the wheel to fall off or the bike to stop instantly.

Trek advises owners to stop using the bike and contact an authorized retailer.
