Police searching for driver in Logan Square hit-and-run

CHICAGO - Police are searching for the driver of an SUV that struck a bicyclist in the Logan Square neighborhood on Friday.

The driver hit 26-year-old Ricardo Capistran as the car turned left from North Avenue onto Talman Avenue at 1:00 p.m.

Capistran was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition.

His family told the Chicago Tribune that he has a broken chest plate, fractured skull, broken pelvis, a collapsed lung, broken ribs and some brain swelling from the hit-and-run.

Police describe the SUV as a four-door GMC or Chevrolet, with a shattered back passenger-side window and damage to the rear door.

Anyone with information on the hit-and-run can call the Major Accident Investigation Unit at 312-745-4521.
