Duke defeats Michigan State, advances to NCAA men’s basketball championship

INDIANAPOLIS — The Duke Blue Devils defeated the Michigan State Spartans Saturday evening in Indianapolis, 81-61, punching a ticket to the 2015 NCAA men’s basketball national championship game.

Freshman Justise Winslow led the Blue Devils with 19 points.

Denzel Valentine was the leading scorer for Michigan State in a losing effort.

The win propels Duke to its 11th trip to the championship game. The university last won the title in 2010.

The Blue Devils will face the winner of Saturday night’s matchup between the Wisconsin Badgers and Kentucky Wildcats. The championship game is Monday at 8 p.m. CT.
