CHICAGO -- Cardinal Francis George was released from the hospital on Friday night.
The Cardinal had been admitted to Loyola University Medical Center last weekend for treatment of hydration issues and pain management.
“The causes that required his admission, dehydration and pain management, have been successfully addressed and he is feeling much better,” the Archdiocese said in a statement Friday night.
Cardinal Francis George is now at home.
At the beginning of the year, he announced he is no longer receiving treatment for cancer, just medication to help control the pain.
The statement goes on to say:
“The Cardinal is deeply grateful to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Loyola University Hospital for the excellent care he received. He is also very thankful to all those who prayed for him in a special way during his hospital stay, and asks for their continuing prayers, even as he promises his in return.
Cardinal George wishes everyone a blessed and joyful Easter.”
