NEW YORK – A detective with the New York Police Department was caught on video raging against an Uber driver.

“I’ve got news for you,” the detective said, “the only reason you’re not in handcuffs and going to jail and getting summons in the precinct is because I have things to do. That’s the only reason that’s not happening. Because this isn’t important enough for me. You’re not important enough.”

A passenger in the Uber cab recorded the tirade and posted it on YouTube.

The man was driving an unmarked Hyundai with flashing red and blue lights.  He allegedly pulled over the driver for honking at him because he didn’t use a blinker.

The NYPD has launched an internal investigation.  He faces suspension and loss of clearance.

Uber released a statement saying the behavior was wrong and they appreciate the investigation.
