CHICAGO -- Contradictions in Chicago’s crime stats so far this year.

Murders are up significantly, while overall, crime keeps declining.

Through Monday, there had been 78 homicides in the city in 2015, a 26-percent increase over last year.

Shootings were up about 40-percent to more than 350.

But police department statistics for all crimes show a continuing decline after back to back years of historic lows.

All crimes are down 5-percent from last year, and 27-percent from 2013.

Police are recovering more illegal guns and making more gun related arrests.

So murder isn’t a crime, maybe they should just stop cruising around and stopbtaking donut breaks in empty parking lots and actually do something instead of waiting for something to already happen.
