MOUNT PROSPECT, Ill. -- Police in northwest suburban Mount Prospect are looking for the driver who struck and killed a pedestrian.

It happened just after 8 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of Algonquin road and Dempster Street.

An unidentified man was crossing the street when he was struck and killed.

Police believe the car involved is a dark colored sedan that would have front end damage.

They are pouring through surveillance video from several businesses along a stretch of Algonquin Road to try to pinpoint the car involved.

They are also still in the process of trying to notify the victim's family, and so are not releasing his name at this time.

They are asking any witnesses to the crash to contact Mount Prospect police -- and for the driver to turn him or herself in.
