Spring snow causes treacherous road conditions, flight cancellations

CHICAGO -- Morning snow is causing delays on Chicago area streets, roads and public transit.

The slick conditions are also causing a number of accidents and spin-outs.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory until noon.

Allow extra time this morning for travel.

The Department of Streets and Sanitation deployed the full fleet of over 280 snow plows and salt spreaders to main streets, Lake Shore Drive and other vital public safety locations early this morning ahead of the morning commute. 

The snow plows and salt spreaders will focus on salting and plowing arterial routes throughout the morning and afternoon.

The City will continue to monitor road and weather conditions from Snow Command and will adjust resources as needed.
