PETALUMA, Calif. — Organic frozen food company Amy’s Kitchen is voluntarily recalling more than 70,000 cases of products due to concerns over possible listeria contamination.

The company announced the recall after one of its organic spinach suppliers said that Amy’s may have received organic spinach with the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes, which can cause fatal infections in children, the elderly and other people with weakened immune systems.

Amy’s Kitchen said it is not aware of any illness complaints, but is volunteering the recall out of “an abundance of caution,” according to a release by the FDA.

The recalled products were distributed to stores nationwide in the United States and in Canada, the FDA said.
