Seven children killed in New York house fire
NEW YORK — Seven children are dead after a “hot plate” sparked a house fire in Brooklyn early Saturday.
The children killed range in age from 5 to 15 years old. They were all found in bedrooms in the back of the house’s second floor.
A woman, believed to be the children’s mother and that woman’s oldest daughter are in critical condition. They survived by jumping out of windows.
More than 100 firefighters battled the blaze.
Firefighters found no evidence of smoke detectors on the first or second floors.
