CHICAGO -- Emails written by Sheila von Weise-Mack reveal she was worried about her daughter and feared for her life.

Von Weise-Mack  was killed while vacationing in Bali last August. Her daughter Heather Mack and Heather's boyfriend Tommy Schaefer are charged with her murder and could face a firing squad if convicted.

The Chicago Tribune obtained more than 150 emails sent from Sheila von Weise-Mack to her friend Elliott Jacobson, in which she talks about Heather's outbursts and her concern about her own safety.

In one email from last March, she writes: "Heather was violent again ... Smashed several items in my home, threw things at me and left."

"Heather is in grave danger; and so am I," she wrote.

Tommy Schaefer says he killed Sheila von Weise-Mack in self-defense.

Heather, who delivered a baby girl this week, says she had nothing to do with it.
