CHICAGO -- Groups servicing children, the mentally ill, the disabled and the homeless pleaded with Illinois lawmakers Monday to spare them from budget cuts.
At the Bilandic Building in Chicago Monday, representatives from 10 organizations testified before the Illinois Senate Appropriations Committee that the cuts would hurt their ability to help the state's most vulnerable segments of society.
Gov. Bruce Rauner says the cuts are needed to help pull the state out of the red.

Good on Rauner!!! Cuts are needed across the board! No one wants these cuts but thank the democrats for putting us in this situation!!! Spend spend spend with no accountability and then the Republicans are the bad guys for doing what is right! I love it! Rauner is the best thing to happen to this god forsaken state!

Hey, this state needs drastic change, unfortunately it’s not ideal for many people but necessary none the less. Lol @ Emanuel joining a group of people protesting cuts to parks, why doesn’t Emanuel use some of his revenue from the cash cows on every intersection that ticket drivers in the name of “safety” to fund his stupid parks

The cuts to Early Intervention services will end up costing the state more in the long run as it will take longer for children that were denied EI services to catch up to their peers when they enter the school system.
