Winter Weather Advisory issued until noon for Chicago area

CHICAGO --A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until noon today as snow, sleet and freezing rain enter the Chicago area.

Snow, potentially heavy at times into the early morning, with local 1 to 3” accumulations possible— less the farther south one travels.

Precipitation shifts to sleet from southwest to northeast then to freezing rain which becomes more sporadic and is mixed with occasional light rain or sprinkles in the afternoon.

Snowfall of as much as 1 to 3” possible before the shift to liquid form precipitation.

A windy, raw and damp day with south/southwest winds 12-22 mph and gusty. Windy and turning sharply colder overnight with gusty west winds 12-27 mph.

Lows from the single digits inland to the teens downtown.
