CHICAGO -- Snow continues to fall in the Chicago area.

1 to 3-inches of snow is expected with northeast to eventually north-northwest winds producing lake-effect snow showers along the Illinois and Indiana Lake Michigan shoreline well into Thursday.

Area roadways are expected to be slick if they are untreated.

The snow is expected to reach the city between 3 and 5 p.m.  Wednesday, which could impact travel times and conditions during Chicago's rush hour.

Even heavier snow will fall in Iowa, which is under Winter Storm Warnings, as the state may get 6 inches.

Once the clipper passes Chicago, Arctic air will move back in with unseasonably low temperatures that have already plagued the area for much of this winter.

Temperatures will be in the teens for the next few days, but are expected to be in the 20s on Saturday.
