DEERFIELD, Ill -- A program aimed at getting children involved in their community is designed to create lifelong volunteers. And as a group of students from Deerfield recently learn – the program is definitely working.
The Kindness Connection was started nine years ago. Through the program, students from Walden Elementary learned through hands on activities how to really help those in need. The students made gifts and packages for a nearby animal shelter.
To date, Kindness Connection has worked with 25,000 students around Chicagoland and donated 40,000 handmade projects to area charities, including veterans’ programs, children’s hospitals and at risk youth.
