CHICAGO -- The story of a doggie daycare van hijacked still has a happy ending, with all seven dogs found safe. But security camera footage recently by police released shows a twist in the story.
A van containing seven dogs from a pet day care center was found Thursday afternoon. Wednesday night the driver of the van reported he was hijacked at gun point at the intersection of Chicago, Ogden and Milwaukee in the River West neighborhood.
But the newly released video shows the van was left unlocked and running outside Urban Out Sitters at 3241 N Dayton St. The two suspects approached the van and drove off.
The abandoned van was found in the 800 block of W Superior at about 11 a.m. Thursday.
The dogs were unharmed and reunited with their owners.
No one is in custody at this time and police continue to investigate.

So what is happening to the driver who left the van unattended and running and reported it as a CARJACKING?? Or was it the owner who came up with the story to cover his business with the dog owners. If there was no video and the thieves were caught with the van, they would have been charged with a lot more than just stealing a car. That’s so wrong! :(

Did they really steal the car or was it all planned by the owner.

Your news report is incorrect. the Van was taken from the 842 W. Superior location of Urban OUTsitters. You report as follows:
But the newly released video shows the van was left unlocked and running outside Urban Out Sitters at 3241 N Dayton St. The two suspects approached the van and drove off.

I would never leave my dog there…the owner and driver are both liers..who wants someone to care for dogs that is irresponsible !!!!..furthermore, the 2 guys that jumped into the van, you mean they didnt see or hear the dogs?..the driver should be fired..i wonder if anyone will sue them..

The idiot employee should be fired. If it’s the owner of the daycare, boycott the business. It was irresponsibility that led to the theft. Of course the two men did steal the van, but people steal vehicles all the time. Making up a story? That’s uncalled for and can be criminal making false accusations. Stealing a vehicle and stealing a vehicle at gun point is a completely different crime with higher penalties and sentences. But at least this gives the business bad publicity. Now they can’t be trusted. Irresponsible and now liars. Great who wants to take their dogs there?
