CHICAGO -- Classes resume today at Chicago Public Schools, and most suburban school districts, after record-setting cold kept kids out of the classroom.

CPS cancelled classes Thursday due to the dangerous cold in the Chicago area.

Students and staff are expected back in classrooms on Friday.

Thursday was the fourth weather-related closing of the year for CPS.

Hundreds of suburban schools also cancelled classes, or started later.
