BOSTON — Chicago has “dibs,” Boston has “space-savers.”
But one Boston resident said his rights were violated when another car parked in the spot he had spent hours shoveling for his own use.
According to Boston.com, the man got peeved when another driver left a vehicle, which had New York plates, in the spot.
His response? Blanketing the snow back over the offending car.
A Craigslist post told the driver’s story last week, though according to Boston.com the post has since been deleted. But a screen grab of it before its removal has gone viral.
“This guy took my spot…So I put the snow back,” it read. Warning: the post also contains some colorful language.
Boston and surrounding areas in New England have been experiencing record snowfalls this winter. Another blizzard hit parts of the region with nearly 2 feet of snow over the weekend, the Boston Globe reported Monday.
The man from the Craiglist post, for fear of retribution, insisted anonymity to Boston.com. He told the Web site he had also placed an old bookshelf in the spot so as to save it.
“I’ve lived in Boston for years and I’m from New England,” the anonymous driver told the Web site. “This was just not a cool move. I’m getting home at midnight and I had nowhere to park.”
There was no word on whether the vehicle also had a Yankees bumper sticker.
