LOS ANGELES - Saturday Night Live is still going strong 40 years later.

The show celebrated Sunday night with a 3 1/2 hour special -- jammed with SNL alumni and other celebrities.

It started with a medley of catchphrases, music and characters, along with a bit disputing who the host was supposed to be.

Everyone who was an "SNL" regular, guest host or musical guest was invited.

Some of the attendees ranged from Dan Aykroyd, Alec Baldwin and Robert De Niro to Kanye West, Betty White and Kristen Wiig.

"SNL" debuted as "NBC's Saturday Night" on Oct. 11, 1975, with comedian George Carlin as host, and Billy Preston and Janis Ian as its musical guests.
