FORT LAUDERDALE, Flor. -- An 80-year-old woman provided a Florida judge with a lighter moment in the middle of a long day behind the bench.
Doloros Sheinis appeared in Judge John Hurley’s court in Fort Lauderdale, charged with violating an injunction against her ex-husband. They’ve been divorced for 31 years, but they still share an apartment.
At one point in the proceedings, the judge asked Dolores, "Let me ask you something, ma'am, how have I done as a judge?"
She replied, "Not bad, but you could do better."
"I've got to tell you, you've brightened my day, ma'am."
"That's what the last guy said, and then he sued me."
The last guy, of course was her ex. Sheinis told the judge, her long-term roommate gets a little bossy at times, because he pays for the apartment.
She told the judge, she’ll make a better effort not to bother her ex.
