Shoplifter takes CPD officer’s gun during arrest

CHICAGO - Police have charged a 33-year-old North side man with two felony charges, after he allegedly fired one of their guns as he was being arrested on the North Side last night.

Police confronted Thomas Thompson, who was suspected of shoplifting at the Walgreens in the 5500 block of North Clark.

Police say Thompson wrestled a gun away from an officer and fired shots.

No officers were hit, but two were injured in the struggle.
