CHICAGO -- City crews will begin removing ‘dibs’ from parking spots as soon as Friday.

Some residents have been using lawn chairs, cones or other pieces of furniture to claim a shoveled parking space since a blizzard hit the Chicago area earlier this month.

The Department of Streets and Sanitation said they will remove any ‘dibs’ they find, starting with the locations where people have called 311 to complain.

Dibs has been a Chicago tradition for years and is well known by people who live in the city.
