France, Germany to help ‘verify’ Ukraine cease-fire deal

PARIS — French President Francois Hollande says he and Germany’s leader will make sure the cease-fire between Ukrainian troops and Russian-backed rebels is carried out.

After 16 hours of peace talks in Belarus, Ukrainian and Russian leaders agreed to begin the cease-fire Sunday local time.

Meanwhile, the International Monetary Fund has agreed with Ukraine on a new bailout deal worth $17.5 billion.
