Kennedy Expressway express lanes closed for snow removal
CHICAGO — The Kennedy Expressway express lanes closed for snow removal are closed to both inbound and outbound traffic starting immediately for snow removal.
They are expected to be cleared of snow for the normal schedule to resume and the reversible gates to be switched to the outbound direction by mid-afternoon.
The Illinois Department of Transportation says it will continue to clear the roads of ice and snow. All state routes in the Chicago area are open to traffic, but many roads remain snow covered, with the potential for some blowing and drifting snow in the more rural sections of Cook and the collar counties.
Due to the heavy snowfall, IDOT is advising motorists to drive with caution and expect narrowed lanes, reduced access to shoulders and restricted turning movements.
