A snowstorm dumped several inches of snow in the Chicago area Sunday making for hazardous travel conditions.
The never-ending stream of snow plows have worked the roads since early Sunday morning.
IDOT had hundreds of plows on expressways.
Chicago’s Streets and Sanitation Dept also had more than 350 plows and salt trucks working main streets after beefing up its fleet with garbage trucks with quick hitch plows attached.
Travel has been slower than normal, but motorists are also taking it slow and using caution for the most part.
Wind gusts of more than 40 mph also hindered visibility.
