The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Saturday evening through late Sunday night.

The counties affected include Cook, DuPage, Iroquois, Kane, Kankakee, Lake, McHenry and Will.

Snow will develop over the area Saturday evening through late Sunday night. According to the NWS, There's potential for greater than 6 inches of snow north of Interstate 88 and possibly in excess of 8 inches south of I-88.

Periods of snow could lead to reduced visibilities under a mile and snow covered roads, making for hazardous travel conditions. Northeasterly winds will increase across the area on Sunday, and this may lead to blowing and drifting snow.
