CHICAGO-- A man is dead following a construction accident Friday afternoon on the city’s near north side.

The incident occurred around 3:00 p.m. at Elm and State Street.  A special operations response was called to rescue the man who was involved in an accident while at least 60 feet up on a crane.

The 45-year-old man from Portage, Indiana was transported to Northwestern University Medical Center where he later died, according to Chicago Police News Affairs.

One witness, Stan Banash, said “He collapsed over the railing where part of his body was extended over the railing. His head down.”

Firefighters worked to rescue the man whiles his co-workers stepped in to help.

“Two of the workers were above that so it took a few minutes for them to get down where he was," Banash, said "Then they pulled him off the rail and laid him flat and started administering CPR.”

OSHA is now investigating this incident.

And thanks to an idiot Republican, Illinois will have their own version of OSHA sticking their noses into these things. I thought Republicans were “pro-business”.
