CHICAGO -- Cardinal George, Archbishop Emeritus of the Chicago Archdiocese, was the recipient of the highest award given by the Knights of Columbus.
George received the "Gaudium et Spes" award which is Latin for "joy and hope."
The ceremony was at the Four Seasons hotel.
In presenting the award to George, The Knights said he has proven time and again that he was a leading voice in the Catholic Church in the United States.
The Knights of Columbus are the world's largest Catholic fraternal organization.
