CHICAGO -- In a city only recently dubbed “Chiberia,” Tuesday was rather balmy -- relatively speaking.

Take look back 30 years, and this is what we had: The coldest temperature ever recorded in Chicago.

27 degrees below zero.

Though he retired from the weather service years ago, Frank Wachowski still keeps a close eye on what's happening around us.

He even has the official weather service record from that dastardly cold winter Super Bowl Sunday. When the wind chill got down to 77 below.

Cars didn't start; faces, frozen.

So take it from Frank, Chicago: Even by Chiberia standards, it can always be worse.
