Chicago cop credited with saving man in Lake Michigan

CHICAGO -- A Chicago police officer came to the aid of a man in Lake Michigan this afternoon.

The officer was able to help the man keep his head above the surface while rescue crews arrived.

The incident happened around one in the afternoon near Oak Street.

Witnesses say the officer grabbed the man in the water and held him above the surface until paramedics and Fire Department rescue teams arrived.
