Cadbury Creme Egg fans outraged over changes to recipe
LONDON — Some Creme Egg fans upset with the changes Cadbury made to this year’s batch of chocolate treats.
According to Mashable, the Illinois-based Kraft, which owns Cadbury, is not using Dairy Milk this year.
“It’s no longer Dairy Milk. It’s similar, but not exactly Dairy Milk. We tested the new one with consumers. It was found to be the best one for the Creme Egg, which is why we’ve used it this year,” Kraft told The Sun newspaper.
Customers have taken to complain about the changes to the recipe, including dozens of posts to the Cadbury UK Facebook page.
Cadbury responded to customers on Twitter, Monday morning.
Cadbury was criticized earlier this month for changing their packaging — Creme Eggs now come in a five-pack instead of a six-pack.
Kraft says rising commodity prices are to blame for recipe change.
