Oklahoma City, Okla. -- Whenever you see a check with a large amount of money on it, it's usually one of those giant checks that you can't cash.

But this wasn't one of them.

Oil businessman Harold Hamm figured a $975 million check to his wife would help settle the couple’s divorce – but he was wrong.

His wife says she deserves more of Hamm's fortune, which is worth an estimated $18 billion.

Hamm, who is the CEO of Continental Resources, had reportedly already paid his former wife, Sue Ann Arnell,  more than $20 million during the divorce proceedings.

Arnell says she's entitled because she was married to him for 26 years and an executive at their company.

Hamm and Arnall both appealed a November divorce judgment that awarded her $1 billion.
