Police in the western suburbs are asking for help in finding a man suspected of breaking into a home and robbing and sexually assaulting a senior citizen.

Westmont police are trying to protect the identity of the victim and will only say she is over the age of 65.

Police say the woman was at her home 1100 block of South Williams in the Eagle Creek Apartment complex. Around 5 a.m. January 1st police say the woman woke-up to find a man standing over her with a gun in her first floor apartment.

She was sexually assaulted, then forced to her car, where she was then told to drive, and withdraw money from an ATM.

Police say the suspect then forced the woman to drop him off here near the intersection of 83rd and Janes Avenue in Woodridge.

“Based on the timeline we think it’s approximately 5 minutes from the time he entered to the time she dropped him off in Woodridge,” Deputy Chief Jim Gunther of Westmont Police Dept. said.

Police are still trying to figure out how the man entered the apartment.

Police believe this was a random attack and are now offering a thousand dollar reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case.

“We are shocked that this happened and we’re using every available resource at our disposal to make sure this crime is solved,” Deputy Chief Gunther said. “We do ask the community to be more vigilant at this time, be more aware of their surroundings.”

Anyone with information about this investigation should contact the Westmont Police Department Investigations Division at 630-981-6319.

Thankfully, the Trib’s story includes a description.
“The suspect is described as a dark-skinned male, between 20 and 30 years old, between five feet ten inches and six feet tall, of stocky build, wearing a dark-colored jacket and carrying a handgun.”

Your article says it’s ‘approximately 5 minutes’… when it’s actually ‘approximately an hour and 45 minutes…’ per the video.
