Knife-wielding sushi chef foils restaurant robbery in Champaign
A restaurant hold up was foiled by an iron-willed chef wielding some cold steel.
The chef at Kamakura Japanese Restaurant in Champaign heard a man demand money from a hostess.
He grabbed his sushi knife and approached the man.
When the would-be robber saw the blade, he figured his pellet gun was no match, so he tried to run away but was stopped by the chef and two customers.
The Champaign News-Gazette reports 23-year-old Clayton Dial is in jail on charges of aggravated robbery, battery and intimidation.
His girlfriend was also arrested when trying to pull away in a getaway car.
Dial reportedly told police he has a drug habit and needed cash to settle a debt.
