Chicago police continue to search for a suspect who gunned down a tow truck driver in a South Side tire shop New Year’s Eve.

33-year-old Reginald Jones was on the street outside the store in the 8000 block of South Stony Island.

The shooter walked up to him around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and shot him in the leg three times.

When the victim ran into the office to take cover, the gunman followed him in and shot him six more times in the back.

About 30 family members gathered at Judy Jones' home Thursday afternoon, stunned by the loss of their relative, who leaves behind three children, ages 6, 7 and 14, and a girlfriend of more than 10 years.

"This is not your typical stuff that you see on the news," his sister Brandy Jones said. "He wasn't gangbanging or into drugs."

"He was so friendly — too friendly," his cousin Ranita Mitchell said. "He would talk with a stranger and hold a conversation like he knew them forever.
