Authorities in the western suburbs  hope an autopsy will reveal the cause of death for a man who was found dead at Geneva golf range.

74- year- old, and longtime Geneva resident, John Gaines was found, lying face-down in a creek near the sixth hole of the Geneva Golf Club at 831 South Street.

Investigators say they don't suspect foul play or criminal activity to be involved in the death or in the circumstances leading up to his death.

Sources say St. Charles residents Barbara and Bob Telfer discovered the body when a golf ball went into the creek.

Barbara Telfer tells the Kane County Chronicle in Geneva that she called 911 after her husband made sure it wasn't a prank.

The golf course was closed yesterday while authorities investigated.

The official cause of death is under investigation.

His wife, Jean Gaines, is the president of the chamber of commerce.
